With this projects deadline coming even closer haley and I  have gathered all our materials for our pillow cases to begin making them. Our current goal is to finish our pillow cases by the end of the month in order to have enough time deliver them to the children and make our presentation before June 5th. We went to Joan's fabrics this week with our bake sale money to buy the materials and to stay under budget. We found 3 different fabrics each for girls and boys and one gender neutral one at $2.99 per yard. We also purchased needles and thread and at the end we saved 7 dollars which can be used for another pillow case if needed or more thread and needles. Haley and I    are planning on recruiting students in our school to lend a helping hand with making these pillow cases. with more students helping we can produce these pillow cases at a faster rate and more efficiently. Therefore that is what I    have been up to these past weeks and Im very excited ...

I have just finished my research paper based on my project: how hospitals effect children. Now that we have finsjhed up the research portion of this project we can officially start the physical part of this project. .In these past weeks Haley and I  have held a bake sale and made a little under a 100 dollars. We plan to use this money to buy materials for the pillow cases. In the next week we plan on gathering materials such as fabric, thread, and needles. However first we need to research the type of fabric we are allowed to use. We very excited to start doing the big part of this project and meeting the children. We have about a month to finish over a hundred pillow cases and deliver them to the 2 hospitals. Since there are so many pillow cases needed to be made, we are recruiting some of our friends to help us make them so we make more in less time. Our current goal for this project is to be done making all the pillow cases by May 1st.
We are now starting to get into the depth of our project. These few weeks are based on research on our topics for our 20-time project. Haley and I have decided to research the psychology behind children stuck in hospitals all day and the physical needs of the kids. We plan to research further on these topics to get a better understanding of how the kids feel so we can cheer them up even more when visiting and giving them pillow cases. My first article is about the psychology behind the children stuck in hospital rooms. The article states  “Children admitted to hospital can experience trauma, now just from their injury but from the experience.” We plan to find out more about this so we can make their stay a lot more enjoyable. The second article talks about what the children are going through physically. Reading these two articles made me more aware of what these kids have to go through and makes me even more excited to be apart of making them smile. Me and Haley are very eager to c...
Haley and I Have just pitched our proposal to a panel of teachers for approval so we can proceed with our chosen project idea. We are both extremely excited to start this project after hearing the positive feedback from the class and the teachers in the room. In the next few weeks we plan on getting our club approved for more students to join and help with future sewing of the pillow cases. Also in the next few weeks I plan on getting in touch with my aunt and cousins to talk about what materials we can use and when Haley and I should come in and meet with the kids. The reason we plan to meet with the kids before giving them the pillow cases is to interact with them and find out what they are interested in or enjoy so we can personalize the pillow cases. Haley and I will be hosting bake sales in the next few months to raise money for the materials needed for the pillow cases. We are busy at work these few works getting together details for our bake sales, club details, and hospitals vi...
Hi I'm Elizabeth, this year for my 20-time project i am teaming up with haley to exceed our goal in sharing happiness with kids who need it most. we came up with the idea to design and make pillow cases to bring to kids in hospitals in brighten up their room. My cousins and aunt works at CHOP and Bryn Mawr Hospital so i went to them for advice and guidance on what we should plan on doing for these children. My cousin Meghan, who works at Bryn Mawr suggested the pillow cases because in past year she said they were huge hits and the children were so excited and grateful. we are planning on creating a club in the next few weeks to give the opportunity for other kids to get involved. When we create our club we plan on hosting bake sales/fundraising events to raise money for all the fabric and things needed to started making pillow cases. Im very excited for this project, i love the idea of this and how we get do what ever we want that leaves an impact on people. Haley and i are ver...
